随着高速公路的建设、发展，高速公路日趋饱和，越来越多的在建高速基本上为山区高速公路，几乎都涵盖了隧道。因此，为提高隧道运营的安全性，隧道消防成为了不可或缺的部分。
消防管道和生命安全息息相关，尤其是在北方寒冷的地区，冬季环境温度长期处干冰点之下，而且隧道口等部位风速较大温度较低，遇到雨雪天气隧道内部容易长期处于潮湿状态等，导致隧道内的消防管道冻结，因此需要对隧道的消防管道进行防冻处理，以保证消防设施在冬季的正常使用。
隧道消防管道采用电伴热系统，可以有效的防止消防管道出现冻结的现象，对于高速公路隧道中的管道安全防护起到重要的作用。电伴热带散发的热量直接或间接地热交换补偿被伴热管道的热损失，使温度维持在要求的范围内，从而达到防止管道结冰的目的。
电伴热带保温具有启动迅速、温度均匀、维护方便、安全可靠、无环境污染等优势，用户可根据具体情况选择自限温电伴热带或恒功率电伴热带，其中自限温电伴热带，其PTC发热元件的电阻率具有很高的正温度系数且相互并联，能够自动限制发热温度，并随被伴热体温度自动调节输出功率，可以任意剪切或在一定长度范围内接长使用。具体选型需要根据当地的环境、管道的直径、长度、热损失量等因素去选择适合的型号。
